In Case I Won't Come Back

Out I go to the fields to find
Where many unknown things hide
I hope to get a job and work
And soon I believe I'll be back.

Sometimes you know, a times you don't
Your fate and fortune at the front
I pray and prepare so you won't lack
Just in case I won't be back.

Our life has been of Love and Lore
And now it is over forty and four
Should you soldier stronger on
If I may forever be gone.

On and on go as you ought
And you forget my Spirit not
If in the fields in peace I rest
May the Spirit add to your dauntless quest.

And this you say to our daughter and son
That they should aim to Stars and Sun
They pay for dreams I left unpaid
And that will be progress maid.

Pour down not some water and wine
Libations and magic are no longer fine
Firm Faith in God and Son Christ
Will lift you up to cream and crest.

And now, that we've got our fairer shot
And you know we are a loving lot
To the needy show some care and mercy
So in heaven I meet you my Blessed Nancy.

Don't you be sad and don't you sorrow
Just because you won't see me tomorrow
I am in the field to wield and work
And I ain't sure I will be back.

May you forever be Love and Peace
And deal your live with joy and ease
I wish you gold and good in luck
Just in case I won't be back.
