I'M Ready
The dreams won’t stop cause
I feel your arms around my
Imagination so I turn expecting
Your smile to greet my eyes and
It does so I reach out to touch
Your skin but it’s cold like glass
Framed pictures can’t keep me
Sane anymore memories do nothing
To shield me from these screaming
Banshees no ghosts left save my
Sea of beautiful demons and I
Can’t swim against or even with
This tide my legs are too weak to
Kick away these nightly mares who
Share my bed masks upturned in horror
Pursed lips kiss the void good every
Night like our pillows can’t seem to
Remember what your cheeks taste like
Neither can my chest too eager to testify
Against its obsession over your skin
Built with bricks too archaic for this
Prince so I rewrite our poems on sheet
Like papyrus making love between lines
And vinegar I’m deaf to your will so
Curves sign to me closer penned in
Prose reserved for sweaty flesh like
Those behind pictures of studs on
Horseback or is it horses on studs and
I forget the sword stabbing me in my
Thigh just wants to slay your dragon but
Not kill it so tomorrow you can terrorize
That tuft of townspeople below my navel
Or we trade places and I can stick my
Tongue in your town’s business let me
Divide your crowd and submit to your
Breath in violent non-protests with I
Do shackle me to promises of forever; I’m ready...
