I'M Dating Poetry!

The doorbell rings He’s here! I spray on a dab of cologne Take a few deep breaths To calm myself, then Pop a mint in my mouth I quickly glance in the mirror Brush down a stray hair My makeup is impeccable My lips are kissable My dress is complimentary I LOOK GREAT! Grabbing my purse and coat, I head for the front door I stop short when I hearing an argument in progress I peek out the window To my surprise all my lovers have shown up How did I overbook on tonight? There’s Romance He’s dressed in a suit Looking suave and debonair Holding a dozen roses He’s even brought his violin along I’m ready for Romance! However, I change my mind when I see Humor He’s my main man Dressed in bright colors, he’s telling jokes Even though he’s the only one laughing He looks like a clown, but He always knows how to turn my frown upside down! I was expecting Emotions tonight He seems happy, but I catch a tear Trickling out the corner of his right eye Then he becomes angry when someone Steps on his freshly polished shoe But, he quickly cheers up and starts to sing I should have know that Philosophy would be here He’s leading the argument Trying to explain to everyone Why he’s here and giving reasons why They all need to accept the fact that it’s his turn to date me He even explains how wise they all would be to just leave I can always count on Inspiration He’s popped the cork on a bottle of champagne Filling everyone’s glass as he encourages them all Not to be upset when I chose him because They would one day have a date with me He even tries to get the others to write a dating declaration Politics is not so easily convinced He is used to working on both sides of the fence He’s trying to get the others to do things the democratic way He suggests that a dating committee be formed He finally says that there should be a vote Since that is the only fair way of doing things Erotic is the first to bow out He is looking so sexy in only a bow tie and boxers He says that he doesn’t really want to go out on the date He’s willing to step aside as long as they all agree that he Can take over at the end of the evening He says that he will be back after the nightcap has been consumed Finally, I slowly open the door I invite ALL of them inside Why should I have to pick just one of them? I’m in love with them all! So I pull out my handy calendar and I schedule dates with each one of them! © 01132009 All Right Reserved

A fresh new voice on the Soup brings us humor! Love the various "dates" who arrive and their unique behaviors. Was especially impressed with "Politics" as that is the way the bipartisan game is played. I'm glad you were able to come up with a creative solution. I would have had a hard time choosing between Romance and Humor. Best to find a fella who has the best qualities of each suitor. Great work, Pretty Feet! Best Wishes and welcome to Poetry Soup.
