If One Day
If one day my God will call me
To go and be there at His side
I really do not want to leave you
But with Him I must abide
The soul by fire must be tempered
Hence we come to walk on earth
To suffer trials and tribulations
So our Lord will know our worth
Few of us will ever make it
Through the tests we face in life
Many will the fight relinquish
Favouring the rope or the knife
Others turn to drugs to blot out
The drudgery of daily dread
Hoping in their hazy mind set
A better life to find instead
But alas this is a pipe dream
We must follow a cleaner track
Ask our Lord for His forgiveness
And plead with Him to have us back
Then our soul will fly to Heaven
Passing others on the way
Who have yet to face the trials
Of yet another sin filled day
