If Life Was Lived, With Truth the Highest Goal

The Peaceful Shepherd --- by Robert Frost If heaven were to do again, And on the pasture bars, I leaned to line the figures in Between the dotted stars, I should be tempted to forget, I fear, the Crown of Rule, The Scales of Trade, the Cross of Faith, As hardly worth renewal. For these have governed in our lives, And see how men have warred. The Cross, the Crown, the Scales may all As well have been the Sword. --------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------- DECIDED A FEW MINUTES AGO, TO WRITE MY TRIBUTE, TO THIS GREAT POEM BY ROBERT FROST.... If Life Was Lived, With Truth The Highest Goal If life could be lived in blessed total peace, And love of evil ever dare to cease, We could enjoy much more the moon and stars, and fear far less the mind made prison bars. If we but found sweet truth a worthy friend, ally in our long journey to the end, Blessed weight upon honor's majestic scales, clearly heaven sent, one that never fails. Righteousness, delivers its on winning path, against dark foes and evil's constant wrath, We see man finds easiest - lust and greed, and thinks too often violence solves his needs. If life was lived, with truth the highest goal Man would never have heart as black as coal. Robert Lindley- 10-08-2016
