Nicola Byrne posted a poem today entitled "Someone Like You" . I read it and thought it was a fantastic poem. It inspired me to write an answer. Since I consider her a very good friend, I wrote this sonnet. Her poem is a daydream of sorts and you might say, so is mine. Thank you Nicola. You are a good sport.

If only I could make my way to Paris To search the boulevards and rainy rues I'd look to find my lonely heart an heiress An Irish lass vacationing her muse We'd find a quiet cafe' on the Seine Where we could sit and share a laugh or two By candlelight we'd toast with French champagne Pretend that we were on our honeymoon But how could I convince her I'm the one To make all of her fantasies come true She knows there's more to life than having fun In Paris hearts get easily confused I'd get down on one knee under the stars Give her the paper ring off my cigar an original poem by Daniel Turner

I'm glad I took the extra 10 minutes to scroll ALL the way up to the top 10 hottest poems to find my friend's wonderful write. I'd tell you how great it is but im too busy humming the Ricola commercial jingle. Hopefully that clears out of my noggin soon (this is a 7+ tho)

I read Nicola's poem as well, you two seem to have a similar sense of humor...if you find that girl that will marry you with a paper ring, hold onto her!

Thank you, Andrea. She's a real Irish darelin'. She said it cheered her up and that made me happy. Her poem begged for an answer, so I chipped in.

If one laminates a paper ring would it, could it never break Would a vow thus said be true Can you teach her heart to trust

Thank you Lynn. I appreciate the flowers. Nicola's poem was the inspiration which made this easy to do. I know she likes to laugh, hence the last couplet. Did you say yes?

Hi Daniel, love the write my friend. An excellent echoe to Nicola's write. You even did it in the poetry of love my friend. One of my favourite forms for reading is the sonnet. You have done a great job my friend. Excellent content and form. The final couplet is definitely you Daniel. This has to be a seven and a fave Daniel. Well done my friend.
