If I Could Be a Flower
If I could be a flower, I'd choose to be a rose
A white one, a pure one, a huge one,
I would be there, in my garden, to light up the face of the morose
I would be there, stoic, always resisting the urge to be wind blown
A white rose; white for the purity it symbolizes
And a rose because I do care to show to the world my thorns, so ugly
A white rose, aiming to be among the friends' many prizes
A white rose, making difficult the way to reach to me
Why, a rose does bloom only for a short while
A rose does wilt and die in a short time
Similarly, my fall to Earth, I wish would last as swiftly as does a shy smile
Similarly, while I do be here, I do wish to shine in prime
A rose, admired by the whole world, a rose, being so beautiful
So gorgeous, all in white, so majestic, so imposing
Why if I could, I would have thrown on myself such a spell
As to be a rose, such a one to be admired even by the Great Being!
