If I Am Not There

If I am not there… If I am not there, who will be touching? Touching the sunset, when no one is watching. If I am not there, who will be trying? Drunken with raindrops, laughing and crying If I am not there, who will be Feeling? Feeling the breeze when loving and stealing. If I am not there, who will be seeing? Watching the roses with their power of healing If I am not there, who will be dancing? Into the clouds when they are advancing. If I am not there, who will be telling? Telling the stories of what autumn is selling. If I am not there, who will be playing? Playing with sunshine so shadows are staying If I am not there, who will be flying? Into the sunset, living or dying. 11/2015 Haloo

Wonderful Ghazal beginning with If like a famous poem by Rudyard Kipling. Once, myself I tried to write such a magic poem (Ghazal for you) but it was a very awkward attempt. It is difficult indeed to touch both the rigid form and playful thoughts.Congrat. Also, your sonnets are splendid. You belong to a civilization of Ghazal as I understood.

Civilization of Ghazal, interesting statement. Thank you. I have six books of Persian poetry. Almost all of them are Ghazal and Masnavi. I'm desperately trying to introduce the Persian style in English to everybody. If you know how to read Farsi, gladly I'll send you the link. Thanks my friend for being so nice.... pashang

Hi Ivor, this form is Ghazal.... An old Persian style of poetry which I love. Thank you. I do believe we are seeking the same thing looking with different eyes. Cheers
