I Wish It

I wish it son, boy of mine, I hear their cries. I wish it boy, son of mine, I can't tell myself lies. Sometimes in the dark of night these memories are so alive. I wish it my beautiful boy, my son, my pride. I wish it but then I look at a picture of you and then I cry. I wish it, I wish I could kill my mind. I wish I'd died on the field with those pals of mine. I wish I'd gone by bullet or bomb so that I could no more hear their cries.
