I Was Young Then
I was young then
Piercing of the ears I remember,
how painful it seemed now I wonder,
For want of gems that I longed to wear,
tolerance to an absolute cheer,
With many pains that slowly followed,
were with time gradually swallowed,
Self respect is entirely lost when,
the heart is pricked every now and then,
Life seems to be tough mountain to climb,
Slipping again trying a rough find,
Yearning to see what's on other side,
Keeps me going despite my crushed pride,
What if triumphs also end in bane ?
and life proves to be a worthless game ??
