I Wanted a Poem, Like This One
O, Mes Cher Amis! Such, I wanted
A poem, so sweet, like this one;
A poem, so beautiful, like a fir
That grows and suits all seasons.
A poem so well penned; its words,
Sinking into the Earth’s heart year by year
And the rhyming, like a birdsong
Flowing into me above other forms.
Ahh, I can feel the words chime,
Digitally reaching for my passion
And heading for the understanding
That will hold my weary spirit.
If I sense the world is streaming down
Or, when the yellow orb won’t shine on,
Will you take me without doubt and then
Uplift me, from great pain to this poem
That covers me like fine clothing---
We share, as the wind its gentle breeze,
As the wild dandelion its yellow hues,
As the Mother Earth its carpet of green?
Oui, Mes Cher Amis! Such, I wanted
A poem, like this one; a poem that will
Always be sweet and beautiful, like you
Whenever I’m in the pangs of loneliness.
