I Speak To the Wind

I speak to the wind And the wind speaks to me I whisper its name And its name sets me free I spread out my arms Like a flesh crucifix And it lifts me up high It, becoming my wings I whisper my thoughts In the air to the wind It takes them up high It absolves all my sins So I stand all alone With the trees who are kin And together we wait We wait for the wind I look at the trees They don’t dance, they don’t sing Then along comes a breeze Who belongs to the wind The trees spread their arms To be touched by the wind And their leaves spring to life Now they dance, now they sing So I spread out my arms Like the trees, because I’m kin And I feel so alive Because I speak to the wind
