I Saw Montpelier Rain Today
I saw Montpelier rain today
A dense white forest up to the sky
Coming loudly from far away
And the land lie naked that was dry
Its breasts stiff as mountain peaks
Its lips like sultry ponds bared to teeth
And the roof that of heaven leaks
Shuddered and spilled in soggy sheet.
And when he was gone, the birds sang
Green as fresh grass, the sun kissed
The trees soft skin, and blossoms hang
Naked, embracing the replenishing mist.
I saw it all as God’s purpose, for his name
I stared inspired, and felt no speck of shame
