I Rise
So I get killed for refusing to do what’s not right
I die for the truth, and refusing to follow suit
I am dying because of my uniqueness
I die for having a different opinion, mindset and belief!
If I’m dying for being who I am, then I will die with pride
Hang me high up in the sky
Call my name out loud and drag it through the mud
Careful now, make sure I’m truly dead
Burn my body and turn it into ashes
Do not bury me....oh I beg, do not!
The dead can wake!
Maybe throw me away and cover your tracks
Make sure the wind doesn’t blow your way
For not coming back...is as simple as that
Do not let my name ring in your ears,
It’ll drive you crazy
If you kill me, be sure you are a serial killer
And that you can cover your tracks very well
Make sure you are not scared of going to jail
You know, just in case I wake up...
When I stand up and stare at you
Make sure you won’t be afraid
If you kill me, make sure you do it right,
And on time
Because I rise...
No matter how hard you try to convince yourself that I won’t...
I rise!
