I Remember Your Ways
I remember your ways
I remember your ways
Lullabies and prayers
Sung to cradle me
Offered to guard me
Clinging to your sleeve
I drifted to sleep then
And now I do it
Feeling your sleeve
Behind the veil of the dark night
I miss your cozy sleeve
I remember your ways
Lullabies and prayers
Kind were those pair of eyes
Love was that when you smiled
Happiness was the scent you carried
Every time you patted me to sleep
I dreamt baby angels playing with me
Now I sleep wishing to see
Your face in my dreams
I miss your subtle savor
I remember your ways
Lullabies and prayers
Sitting on your lap
I saw a big world
Now leaning back on this arm chair
I see the world shrunk to a table globe
I was never hunger then
Now but I crave to feel your love
I miss your pacifying lap
I remember your ways
Lullabies and prayers
Crying out in pain
Never knew it was in vein
Following the procession
Oblivious of the desertion
To the grave for a dark-faced woman
Years later I realized was my mommy,
Who was pretty in my memory
Fair and gorgeous
I remember your ways
Lullabies and prayers
Standing alone in front of your grave
Holding your best-loved roses
-dated forever-
