I Peer Into Your Eyes

I peer into your eyes and only dream Of tranquil seas reigned over by the moon, Of the fresh morning and its stunning gleam, Or the proud skylark and its flowing tune. I touch your downy skin and I can feel The soft caress of dew on tender moss, Whose mild embrace can comfort, soothe and heal The aching grip of bitter grief and loss. I taste your tender lips and I forget That both our youth and beauty fly away, But I remember that I’m in your debt In ways which I can never hope to pay. I think of you and then I understand How fortunate I’ve been to grasp your hand. Find my poems and published poetry volumes at www.eton-langford.com
