I Had To Drink

Time to cry? Time to realise? Look at what you've done You've killed someone Go ahead and cry Perhaps you had to drink? Perhaps you had to drive? Is that the reason why? That young man there has died? Oh, sorry....it's your friend who was in the wrong? Not you? It was his turn to pay? How much was the drink? Two, three, four pounds? Well....hey! That's worth a life, wouldn't you say? You wish you hadn't now? Made your friend pay? Hindsight is so strange? His loved ones have to know, they'll find out today Why their son has gone, so very, very far away. Imagine what they'll think? Imagine what they'll say? When we tell them you HAD to drink because your friend had to PAY.

Hi TIRO, Brilliant. An incredibly nuanced look at an ugly problem. Sorry for your loss if this is for real. Beautifully written, regardless. Cheers, Brian

Hi Brian, Thanks very much. It's not about any particular person. I read about a young man's reason for getting caught and thought about how stupid it was. What a waste for a drink? I sympathise with anyone who's lost a loved one by acts of careless, reckless stupidity by predominantly young men in cars.
