I Don'T Want To Go

Lying on new mown grass looking up at a starry sky, the Eye of me cannot see where the "I" will go when I die. Believing in neither heaven or hell within this mind I've had but only in the Power of Love that judges no good or bad, yet brings light and coincidence, mysteries that can't be explained like where will I be, this dust of me when I am no longer contained within a body form passing into another life phase. With all the treasured memories within me, it surely does amaze to think its all to nothingness as "I" become part of The One and all these eons we all have lived will be swallowed up in our sun. It is eternity I seek as this ego cries out for more of Me and Mine and never, no never to land on any distant shore, but only to always stay here forever and ever in this world of beauty and magic and all its mystery as it is unfurled. ------------------------ Inspired by the following quote from Woody Allen: "I don't want to achieve immortality through my work; I want to achieve immortality through not dying."

This is my favorite I think. It speaks to me--thoughts I ponder often, thoughts I feel. You are very talented! Keep up the awesome work!

A very thought provoking and stimulating write. The rhyme scheme, flow and meter was right on the $$$ money! Loved the Woody Allen quote at the end. Peace always, John

Yup, my mom, a country girl, put this in her own crude way. You eat, you --it, you -iss, and you die, morid aye? Good job of making the passage much more beautiful!!!!!! Wish I'd heard your version first. Light & Love Debbie Guzzi

A very deep ponder that puts one in a state of "hmm" I know that I won't live forever, but don't wish to leave the beauty of my life very soon. Though I have suffered with illness and such, I still have that joy to keep on living and make each moment count. As to where I go afterwards, I hope it's a better place. Wonderful write dear Sue :) Cheers, Alana

Beautiful, searching piece. You obviously love life and the beauty of life. About the "Cathedral"....It is after a Debussy piano work, written over 40 years ago when I was romantically impressed. It won a first prize at the time, but now is slightly out of date. Love, daver

Hi Sue, I'm not sure that to stay here is all that wonderful. Yes, there is much to see yet, but I look forward to the unimaginable as well. I don't know what will happen but I don't think it will be nothingness...it may be something quite different. We'll see!!! Love, Donna

Hiya Sue. Well, I certainly have no "in" with the soup, but it's a very nice idea for those who want to share their b-days and know others. Wouldn't bother me, in fact it would be nice to know some for sure. Mine is June 22 - and when is yours? Anywho, I will be happy to support you if you need any help. Love, Shar xoxo

To be part of something greater, something we don't understand at the moment. I believe in a forgiving God and believe we make our own choices. I pray for mercy and fear justice as I always wanted to be in a warmer climate, BUT NOT THAT WARM!!!!. Have a great day, Sue. Vince

and yet death is inevitable, a journey we shall all make, yet many fear.... this was divine, loved the flow and the uniqueness of how you incorporated first person "I" into the poem itself without making in redundant.....excellent.

Deeply moving, Sue, this quest for the answers we all seek. You are so gifted on this journey, this poem says what so many before and will in the future be asking, searching for. Those here on PS will most likely be responding with their own beliefs, doing their best to share and convince. Each one of must come to our own conclusions...but your honesty is admirable and well versed. ~ Carrie

Some poetry just picks you up soulfully and takes you on a journy of all sorts of emotions and situations. This poem gives the urge to write some thing because it gives me the feeling when i started writing serious poetry. enjoyed reading it.

Sue, all I can think of saying is "Do not go gentle into that good night. Rage, rage against the dying of the light." by Dylan Thomas. It is one of my favorite poems. I know how you feel and i love your poem. Love, Shar

Sue first of all I want to say that I respect you dearly and this write really touched me. It touched me because I know there is a god that loves us dearly and he died on a cross so we could have everlasting life. Atone time I was like you not believing in heaven or hell but I read the bible and after learning of Jesus great love and understanding I was touched but after learning that all the things that were predicted in the old testament came true there was the proof. He loves you very much
