How I Miss You

I wiped away a single tear That had fallen from my eye You left me after only a year I often sit and ask myself why Looking back on our time together I remember those halcyon days I thought we’d be together forever Now memories are a fading haze Your hair so dark with eyes of brown So full energy with a sense of fun Always happy, you were never down We’d go out together and have a run You’d always reward me with a soppy kiss I’ll never forget the day you got knocked over Never a day passes when you I don’t miss How I loved my precious dog Rover Jan Allison 22nd September 2014

Great write and so in line with the relationship between humans and dogs. My dog , Midnight, died over 20 years ago--I've never had another! That's what they mean to some of us.. Gifted dogs to my kids but never again one for me..

Oh my. We stopped pets after our last cat. Just can not handle the trauma when they go. Thanks, Jan. Jim

Our friends were the same Jim - they had their cat 19 years the last 2 years of their lives they wouldn't go on holiday in case anything happened to it - it was a poorly moggy but boy how it bounced back time after time.:-) Hugs Jan xxx

Sad and sweet, the sloppy kiss gave it away *lol* although I am sure that description is apt for some fellows.

Sorry about the dog, even if it's only an imaginary one. These things do happen and losing a dear pet can be a painful experience. Enjoyed your write and the final twist. hugs // paul

Wasn't Rover Old mother Hubbard's dog. Such a sweet sad poem Jan. I'm so relieved it is fictional. I don't know who to believe around here anymore. :-).

So what you are suggesting is that YOUR DOG ROVER WAS RUN OVER IN THE THICK LUSH CLOVER IN THE TOWN OF DOVER.

Originally it was going to be about a break up in a relationship - then the muse took me into doggy territory or maybe that should be dodgy LOl Hugs Jan xxx
