Hope's Own Prize

Spirit-fed, came three who thus were led by the star the Scriptures had foretold. With faith they journeyed onward that they might behold the One for whom they bore frankincense, myrrh and gold. Those who brought these gifts were men most wise. They found in a child’s eyes Hope’s own prize! Matt: 2: 9-11 (all of chapter 2 in fact, deals with the visit of the wise men.) Usually the account of the magi focuses on the gifts, but I like how this one emphasized their faith and hope. After all, they had to travel hundreds, maybe thousands of miles in the desert, based on a star? We know so little about them, but I do believe they had a lot of faith! I enjoyed this write, Andrea.

Hi Andrea, Thanks for your kind comment. Thank you for this lovely Christmas poem. So glad John has created a Faith Contest because I only write to glorify our Creator. I have no training in poetry whatsoever, and only write what I am inspired by the Holy Spirit to write - 1,400 poems later. May God bless you in 2012 with all the desires of your heart! :) Maureen

Without the child, we're unreconciled and we'd all just go to hell. Thank God he gave us Jesus Christ in time to toll the bell. Your poem is filled with wonderful gifts. My heart is grateful for how it lifts. Good luck when John decides to rule. If he doesn't pick you high, he's a fool. :) :) :) Listen, I feel the need to comment after that. I'm just rhyming. I don't like being crass.

Enjoyed mucho. What ever happened to Amahl and the Night Visitor, by Menotti? It was very popular back in the 1940s. Of course you remember it....hardy ho, ho, ho! Seriously, you are so young at heart, it makes me feel old. Love, daver

I commented on this one and it must NOT have taken...weird! I love the scripture you chose, Andrea. The message is as strong as the verses. What would we do or where would we be without Christ's hope? A wonderful write....Hey, off the the turtle pond at the arboretum...gonna see if any box turtles want to be interviewed for my choka poem...hope it's not too cold out there. The sun hasn't peaked our from the covers yet. Gmail...
