Homeward Bound
Beneath the rubble of this shattered home
The memories of my childhood reside
Bleeding hands from where I've poked and prod
For knowledge of when it died
The ghosts of my past scorch my remains
Refusing to let me ignore
Flashbacks of better days
Leave me wanting more
Smiles, tears and bunny ears
Live on pictures beneath the carcass
Addicted, I stay here searching for more
Despite the weather's harshness
The more I pry, the more tired I grow
I just can't connect the dots
Frustration angers and exhaustion sets in
I begin seeing spots
Perhaps my puzzle is to remain cracked
So it will match my heart
The missing pieces are nowhere to be found
An answer so brutally tart
I've learned to tame those pesky ghosts
I successfully hushed their sound
Now I'm looking forward, not back
I'm no longer homeward bound
