oh! I'm from Asia, how well I could envision this, Phyllis :) I Love rain storms (ok minus the fact it being so destructive) but this really captures those sodden branches well... and thank you for passing by my haiku, I am happy the rose blooms brought you summer--- sunny smiles to you! and I see this won, very rightly so! Congrats to you! :D

Thanks Cyndi for your good wishes. Yes, we do not experience them either but have watched them in progress on nature shows.

Phyllis! Such a detailed picture of something seemingly insignificant , yet you turned the image into something gorgeous. I am so excited to see this as a top winner in Debbie's contest. It gives us a great example of what to strive for....yipeeee, yipeee! Gwendolen

Awesome image in your haiku, Phyl. It seems like Florida has "monsoons" during hurricane season. I can relate to the picture you've created. Love, Carolyn

Ilike it. Don't know much about form and never cared much for strict form. I just know what sounds good and this works for me. God Bless, JB :)

Hi Phyllis, I just want to comment regarding titles for haiku in response to a comment below. Normally, haiku are not titled. At the Soup you need a title to post the piece so the first line of the poem is usually the option I use or at least the first word or two. 5/7/5 is not longer in vogue for English haiku so your syllable count is fine. Nice use of imagery! Thank you for your kind comment. Karen

Phyll your title should be the first line..haiku are either numbered OR the first line is used as the title..Light & Love GOOD ONE!!!

hahaha, I see john telling you to count 5/7/5. Doesn't he know about these contests going on around here using shorter lines?

This is a nice little haiku expression, Phyllis. You even used shorter lines. If it's for Deb's, I hope she loves it!
