Heart of the World

The heart of the world aches today hurt, violence, distrust, this country's strength has been misplaced. I hear the cry of the people sleeping on the streets at night and see our Veterans holding cups out for help in daylight. I see our children sitting in school hungry and also sleeping on the street at night while the people of the world arguing about bathroom rights. Elderly people sit quietly all alone hoping someone will come by and help them put their shoes on. Mental illness showing up every where and people left feeling that no one cares and feeling all alone. My heart breaks everyday and I can not seem to want to smile like life is okay. I feel the sorrow of all who care and I back the ones who everyday find another way to share. Is there hope in this human race? Is there ever going to come a day when stupidity and arrogance wash away? Is there any strength left to slow hates pace and to the next generation remove hate and give way to replace it with grace?

Dear Sharon, This poem is very poignant, powerful, and quite telling. The message you relate here in "Heart of the World" is truly spot-on. (As you know, I'm a retired U.S. military veteran and I live over here in Germany as an American Expat. I'm aghast at the proliferation of guns in America, the lack of treatment for those with mental problems, and the disrespect for those who are "different" in supposed "civilized society." "Trumpism" won't get my vote!!) Our world is sad too!! 7/FAV!! Gary

Thank you so very much Gary. I have just become fed up with watching our leaders put what matters most on the back burner while putting their personal agendas ahead of everyone and everything else we could be as a strong nation doing. Just heartbroken over it. Thank you for the wonderful comment, Gary. As Always wishing you & Ingrid my best. Sharon : )
