He Gives You Roses

When your lover gives you roses Look him well into the eyes; Are his words sincere and honest Or are they just fragrant lies? ------------------------------------- Inspired by Jan's poem: "He's Never Given Me Roses"

Oh, I love this one, my friend - very clever, lovely piece. And you are absolutely right - while some lovers may give roses for sweet loving reasons, others may have ulterior motives in mind. All the best. Pandita.

I have 18 beautiful deep pink long stemmed roses scenting my room right now given to me by my husband yesterday. He lets the roses speak for him, and they tell me a lot, (smile) I know I am a lucky lady because he is the one who is ill. I prefer to receive roses for no reason at all rather than on a special holiday, and he always surprises me. What you say in your poem is true with most fellows though. Good write Paul!

indeed.. :)! all women love roses but I agree to what Nathan said that at his times sometimes the gesture of give roses is merely a facade of insincere intentions.. well, there are other ways though that needs to be considered.. even sometimes the sweetest tongue are the deadliest ones.. hence like me with all the heartaches I've gone through well, must be really so wise..! anyhow still like roses if one gives accept but be keeeeen! olive eloisa ;)

Most of the women I have known would have loved to receive roses...and chocolates! I am sure you would be no exception:) Usually roses and sweet words compliment each other! hugs // paul

I have brought up this subject with some of my young friends, and they look at donating roses as something beyond them...they grin and say that only sissies do it! Well, times change! // paul

Thank you for stopping by Charm! Roses are nice, but it is also true that they do not always mean love! I hope that other things make up for lack of roses! .... glad you're smiling:) // paul

Good one, Paul....Often that comes with guilt! Proven fact...when something's afoot...spouses turn sweet and caring. Not all the time, of course. Good luck!
