He Drove My Heart Away

My honesty leaves him speechless, he walks away mad, I cannot be who he wants me to be, I cannot change that, I was truthful from the door, I had nothing to hide, And that was the one thing about me that drew him to my side, His reputation meant more than being truthful with himself, He lied and covered his own rearend even if meant hurting somebody else, He knew what he was doing the whole entire time, He knew I saw through everything, and every little lie, I tried to be there for him ever since we met, He knew how much I loved him, but the more he lied I became a threat, He did not want to change those awful ways, he wasn't ready to see, I stayed by his side with tears in my eyes until he turned on me, I was now the enemy, yet I sacrificed my soul, I covered his heart and took the blame, even when he turned ice cold, But a person can only take so much abuse, he pushed my heart away, Now, years later he finally sees he made a huge mistake.
