Hardover Hec
Hector Waller
“Hardover Hec” yes they called him,
Yes hard a port, that’s it, right,
If bombs or torpedoes were a falling, crawling,
He’dodge em, with sweetest delight,
The Germans said the “scrap iron flotilla,”
Old Stuart was one, yes too right,
One black night she sailed amongst the Italians,
Destroyer, amongst their Cruisers that night,
4 inch guns against the 8 inch, Italian,
Slipped tinfish amongst them that’s right,
Italys cruisers were blazing, exploding,
4 inch guns blazed a path through the night,
2 or 3 cruisers were sunk there,
Other Aussies and Poms in the fight,
Fox Terrier’s were plonking away yair,
Big dogs got a horrible fright.
Of Hector Waller of Australian Navy WW2 in 1941.
