Good Old Days
When I was but a lonely child
And all my friends were running wild
I'd sit for hours in front of our old
Black and white.
Skelton, Gleason, Lucy too
Talent that always ran so true
I'd sit and laugh until my sides
Would almost burst.
Ed Sullivan always brought a smile
Each week a new group would go on trial
From England or our own U S of A.
I thought those days were gone
No laughter no new song
Until one night I sat at my own laptop.
A whole new world I did discover
Something wonderful I did uncover
Videos from those wonderful bygone days.
All my old friends were waiting there
Sullivan, Beatles, even Fred Astair
Just waiting for me to have a look.
Now, it's not an old black and white
Not even color sets do entice
I spend my time with my good ole laptop.
Laughing, smiling, crying too
All because a wondrous few
Took the time to discover You Tube.
