Gone For a Short While
I look into the darkness
And the light stays the same distance away
Where have all the people gone
Is my dream the same as everyone’s dream?
Are we always alone and looking
The light was dim and fading fast
It was the mid winter time for us all back then
Waters subsiding, mountains standing tall
I can’t look down at that river of blood
Tears adding to the waters edge
The sky is crying, not weeping for joy
I am walking down this desolation road
Looking for signs of life
Long glances at the burning bush
How long can it burn in the rain?
In and out of my life
The sound of life during war
Talking long and hard in different tongues
Looking out over a sea of hands
Reaching out for our forgiveness
But it isn’t ours to give
Walking without talking
Leaving in a hurray to get back
I see all the faces from my past
But can they all see me?
