Go Away, Go Away, Go Away

(Sing to tune of Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow) Oh, the weather outside is crappy, and they say I should be happy, But to all this snow I say, "Go away, go away, go away." Some weirdos think snow is "gnarly," But roads are slick and snarly, And MORE snow's on the way, "Go away, go away, go away." When I woke up at 6 a.m., fast to my window I ran. But the earth was a blinding white. My car wouldn't start. What a fright! When finally I got started, and to the roads I darted, I was sliding as I prayed, "Go away, go away, go away."

Lovely write! just reading through your poems and that of others today. I have been overwhelmed with so much this year that I couldn't spend time here like before. I guess I need to shake off those pressures. I miss the soup

. It is written in one meter and scale and comprises couplets (minimum 5 couplets) called 'Sher'. Each couplet or 'Sher' has a complete story, a complete message or a complete philosophy. The first two lines of a Ghazal is called MatIa in which both the lines rhyme (the rhyming word is called 'Qafia') followed most often by a repetitive word or phrase (called 'Radeef'). From the second couplet onward only the second line has 'Qafia' and 'Radeef'. Being in one meter and scale Ghazals can be set to music and sung in concerts. Although Ghazal is now an accepted form of poetry in English literature, I believe that it is next to impossible to write Ghazal in English language fulfilling all its prerequisites. My Ghazal, which may be splendid in contents, falls short in the strict requirement of a Ghazal. I have made each couplet rhyme differently ignoring meter and scale. This is maximum that can be done. Ask me questions if you are not satisfied with the details given by me. -Mohammad

An excellent write. I like it. Thanks for your appreciation of my Ghazal The Galaxy of Thoughts, Andria. I am glad you liked it. This is a translation of one of my Ghazals written in Urdu language. In Urdu I have a published book comprising hundred Ghazals. Additionally I have written over two hundred Ghazals that were published in the literary magazines and rendered in the gathering of poets in Karachi and Dhaka. Ghazal is a unique form of poetry in Persian, Urdu and Arabic languages.

We're strangely missing snow but I'm not mad. The heat in my car is out. So I'm not sad.
