Lines on my chest like a treasure map X marks the spot Your finger trails one from left to right I sigh Signed their names across my heart I didn't ask them to Ridges, glacier lines. Your tongue leaves a small moist trace down the valley of dried tears My hand lifts your head In a desperate plea to stop Your love includes scars My pain denies them *** January 2, 2017

It's not just the marks but the story they remind you of that's hard or impossible to forget. As you said, allow the love, and try to replace the bad memories with the caring and loving touches... with the memories of a little kid's frown over your boo-boos and lots of band-aids. Love you <3

There are simply not enough band-aids for my niece to cover them all ;) ... Thank you, Claudia <3

Wow, Darren! I can't yet think, so much in this write, layers and I feel a need to say 'accept your scars', 'allow the love'. But that is a Pollyanna reaction to very deep and intense emotions eloquently expressed. Seems someone is looking at their 'reaction' on paper and other than being unhappy about it, they are too lost to clear the issue away. How to now say, Happy New Year? You are so worthy of happy ... CayCay! I missed you :) Happy New Year, always! Accept the scars is asked too much indeed. So is allow the love. A lot has to happen first. Baby steps.
