Friends
FRIENDS
By Kelly Stephen
It’s not every day that a hero comes along
Or is this statement very, very wrong
Do they walk among us? Could this be true?
Maybe a hero is not dressed in red/blue
Maybe they’re not fighting crime, but fighting for you.
Perhaps they’re on the playground
Perhaps they’re in the hall
Perhaps they’re in the classroom
Perhaps they’re in the Mall
Maybe they’re only waiting to catch us when we fall.
They become special friends
Whose bond we just can’t explain
The ones who understand us
And share our joy and pain.
What if they’re not adults
But friends like me and you
Are friends real heroes?
I think this could be true.
