Frayed Goodbye

Did today happen? Did it really happen? You sprang forth Like a groundhog From your cave In the thick Of summer's eve, Seeking the sun To cast your shadow; So as to retreat Once more; But your cold Fingertips warmed And a slight red Rosy on your cheeks Glowed with a smile, Laughter erupting From the depths Of your belly empty Hibernation's toll, And while the breeze Still blew chilly, Our eyes rekindled Happy at the sight Of one another, And for once In a long spell You braided Your golden trestle Let down From your towering Steeple up high; I the guest At your behest, Delayed Was my frayed Goodbye, But knowing That waiting For the next time To come around again Is but a memory from now until then...
