Forever Isn'T Always Forever

I walk. I walk to our spot we always came to together Through the woods at the spot the sun lights up the most The big rock we would always lay on and have pic-nics I hear the leaves crunch beneath my feet as I walk further Its been many years I remember it like it was yesterday Us two crazy-in-love teenagers It was the best day ever You had your arms around my waist and you made my favorite cookies Double chocolate chip and peanut-butter You told me you loved me and wanted us to be together forever we walked around after we got through eating and found an old tree I look at it They are still there you carved our names with a heart and the words “together forever” I run my hand down it and feel the tough bark beneath my skin tickling the palm of my hand “I guess forever isn’t very long” I said to myself that was the day you left and never came back. No one wanted to tell me No one wanted to say to me, that I would never see you again That you were gone forever I feel a tear roll down my cheek to the bottom of my chin I never got to tell you one last time that I loved you But I hope you know that I did And I hope you know that I still do
