For What We Seek

In early dawn‘s crisp air, we journey forth with evanescent hope as we head north. We watch for what we seek. A *golden-eye glides overheard in blue of winter’s sky. We bear the cold as we trudge through the snow. Sometimes we stop for rest; then on we go. We spy a stream that now has turned to ice, and there it stands in pristine paradise. . . . Perfection! It’s exquisite, straight, and tall; without a doubt, the one that we will haul back home, where those we love wait eagerly To deck the lush green limbs of this year’s tree!
*golden-eye is a type of sea duck that can live in northern US and in Canada. For Francine Roberts' A Winter Couplet Poetry Contest My theme is #2: A Winter's Walk

JUST SUBLIME... Andrea, really cool couplet, aboreal hunting in retrospect is most invigorating. Oh, and Andrea the turkey and B. Franklin apparently just a legend; according to Wikipedia. /cr

I watched the today show yesterday and they were talking about where the Rockafeller x-mas tree was coming from. It was in someones front yard. It seems so calous to remove such beauty for a grand dious display. Now they don't have that beautiful tree in their yard. whhhhh.

What a sumptuous, happy write this is. I am off to bed, and because of you will have shiny dreams. I once did this with my family. Not all my Christmases were happy ones, but that one was. Thanks for bringing back to me. Thanks for you your lovely comments on my poem, too. It's been a long, long, long week. You made me smile. CHeers to you chum, Hugs Cyndi

I enjoyed this very much. We always cut our own tree and every year it is a search for just the right one. Our search is a bit more tame but this poem evokes some of that feel. Good luck in the contest. P.S. thank you for your kind words on my lulluby - it means a lot.

Heavenly Evanescence! My wife gets told a she looks like the lead singer of the band Evanescence! "Wrong Place Wrong Guy" is a dedication to an old friend who I have worked with in the past named Mario Rocha, He was wrongly imprison for several years for murder, that was actually done by a Gang member. He is a far cry from a gang banger. He was beaten several times, stabbed, and nearly died in the Cali prison Infirmary. Google Him. It is a fascinating story. They ended up making a Documentary
