For a While
You gave light
to darkened sky
on grayed days
thoughts of you brought comfort
though filled with tears
aah..just for a while
I'd sit, stare, numbed,
wondered, why this one?
as I watched spring leaves
and petals need to moisten seed.
therein lays the hope of new growth.
I toss my head and smile
aah..and for a while.
I swear I heard you whisper
in a gush of wind,
hush..let not your aching heart forget,
rejoice, for I have known no closer friend
and though my arms won't hold you again,
my heart will never let you go.
I miss you
and not just for a while
