First Umbrella
I’d always thought I had it all
Till you breezed softly to my life
I now recall this parasol
As you walk near as wife
It was the gift that first allured
As love was young and new
And so it is that we’ve endured
Through tempests more than few
I used to think the color bland
And coverage somewhat small
Now the faded red is grand
Our closeness now enthralls
Umbrella’s fabric old and stained
Still shields us from above
Far more it means than stopping rain
It’s walked with us from like to love
