First Impressions

The first time you held me, I could hardly catch my breath. My heart was still fluttering, An hour after you left. I thought I had finally Met the man of my dreams. I quickly found out you were Not at all what you had seemed. You weren't the loving, faithful Man who tried to be kind. It's true when they tell you That love is blind. I didn't see all that you were, Lying, cheating, and doing drugs. I should have seen that coming, All your friends were wannabe thugs. True deceit, as you pulled The wool over my eyes. I believed all your excuses And your pathetic lies. Now all I see is a man Whose heart I thought I had stole. With whispered promises Of "To have and to hold". No longer do thoughts of you Make my heart skip a beat. Now, no longer the proud wife, When I think of you, I want to hang my head in defeat. But I'm stronger than that and I wouldn't give you the satisfaction. Even though our marriage went up in flames, You can't rob me of my passion! We'll see who comes out with the better hand in life. I'm sure it will be me since I no longer want the title of your wife.

Very clear and to the point. No one should be victim to a marriage based on lies. Be strong and be proud. A lovely read on a very poignant subject. Michael
