Fate

The light, it still lingers as blood on black water Day slips down to night as horizons all fade Breathing down from the trees, slightly still is the breeze And the sun's sieved away at the end of the day In the stillness, so somber, so nascent, I lie Content and complacent, spread out in the sky So here is the soul, and so here is all life As it is, truly, lain and surcease in the night A daffodil drains down to where the sunset used to be And fallows, ever fragmented from where it once was free
