fall into winter

Melancholy song of summer's wane,
Weariness calls autumn's reign.
The trees draped in colored shawl,
Awaiting winter's distant fall.
Snow whispers chills profound,
To coat scattered leaves around.
Ushering forth chilled lioness gale,
Roaring through the season's vale.
The birds huddle with feather's fluffed,
Squirrel’s cheek brimmed with nuts stuffed.
Flower's take to their beds aground,
Hibernating with winter's chilling sound.
Encouraging spring's grand premier,
Anticipating their turn to reappear.

Beautiful description of the changing seasons, Lisa...I will be glad for fall and winter to come to get some relief from this hot weather...Then I'll do what I always do...complain that it's too cold! Also thank you so very much for recognizing my poem in your 'unnamed county fair' is a real honor...have a wonderful day! - Tim

Each of the four seasons is inevitable as long as our planet earth orbits the sun at an angle. Your work describes the changing of the seasons quite well.

A nice preview of winter. Hope it doesn't come for a while. What happened to your contest? I see that I have won a third but I would like to find the other poems. Thanks. Joyce
