Fado

Fado What do we do with Fado, this guitar sound and guttural Portuguese voice that has a twang of Arabia in its heart and is pure poesy. Life, loss longing and the finality of death, is in songs that celebrate love’s unbearable sweetness, our tragedy and the unobtainable. Yes, sing me a Fado, let me hear the guitar and I will close my eyes float in a sea of melancholy and remember you.

Dear Jan I hadn't heard of Fado before. I went to Amazon to check it out and found samples of Amália Rodrigues singing beautiful music. I didn't understand a word but felt the air of your poem. It's a wonderful poem. love, Kathy

Fado is the music of the soul, my wife refuses to take me to a fado concert, we went once in Cascais and i was crying all the time, today I gave my latest book "Benafim where birds sing to noon" i had dedicated the book to her brother who died young, she cried I cried I'm hoplessly acrimonious
