Eye's Wide Shut
Her cries of innocence
were of no comfort,
Encapsulated by every
harrowing yet haunting vision.
It was clear that as
this dream progressed
and carried her along,
She was screaming for the
return of her abducted childhood.
Peering down upon herself,
her contorted frame seemed
much smaller than it really was.
Her body fighting off demons,
There is much anger in her
flailing about.
She was again alone, yet she
was melding with those who
only faked their Love for her.
Her path feels distorted,
her perceptions unclear,
This a result of unwaivering
messages recieved as a child.
Of which included... She had no
voice, no vote, no say,
She had no hope.
Shrouded in fearful secrets
and often disoriented,
She no Longer wishes to remain
present in this body.
For it will again betray her,
as it's done so many times before.
How to escape though?
There must be a safe place
for her to wake up to,
A set of warm arms to step into?
She is consciously aware that
with the flicker of her eye's,
A new nightmare will erupt.
She call's these her awake nightmare's.
More frightening than those when
she is fast asleep.
For awake, there are all the more
monsters she'll be forced to fend off.
Torn, she's unsure if it is ever safe
to awake from one nightmare to another.
WAKE UP! WAKE UP!
Don't you know by now that you
can run but you can never hide?
