Embrace the Day

Our days on earth are as fleeting as a shadow. Try as we might to hold onto them They slip through our fingers like hourglass sand and we grow old. Our memories fade, sight grows dim, names and faces escape our grasp. Every day we struggle to maintain our dignity. Steps grow slower, hearts grow weaker as time takes its toll. Too soon death will come calling and snatch us away. But until that day we live, we breathe, we love. Every day is a gift from God. Embrace it. 9/8/16

This poem is so impressive Kim! With such few words you have captured aging in a nutshell. You have expressed it in a way I want my children to look at it. I am faving this little gem. I hope to see this high on the winner's list if for a contest! ; ) 7

I remember my father saying we seven children grew up "in the blink of an eye". He also used to say "You are only young twice." That's how I live my life. Thank you for this gift of a poem KIm.

You certainly painted the cup half full, thank you, I think its the way of thinking we should all strive to see, even if at times seems an uphill battle! :)

Thank you, Arthur. It doesn't do any good to focus on the negative.

Once you've aged to a certain point, it is hard to find an upside to aging. I have known and know those who are at one with it, and how I envy them that. This topic has very much been on my mind, especially as I am very close to my Mom who just turned 80. I want to feel something other than sad or afraid loving her, watching her - plus my own number now. I love your search for the positive side which is how I try to roll, too. Very well done, Kim ... I know what you mean, CayCay. Aging isn't fun but it is a part of life. My mom will be 80 in January and it's hard watching her become more and more dependent on others for simple things. Thank you for your comment.
