Earth Day

Earth Day is Every Day!
Hiking in the woods
Smell of dirt
Rotting, evolving
New life sprouting
A canopy
Umbrella of leaves
Erasing the hot Sun
Footsteps (my own)
Rustling, twigs cracking
High pitched noise?
A cicada, an ugly thing
Born during heat
And dying soon after
When you hear one, you're in for a hot day
The Woods are always Changing
What will tomorrow bring?

Right on, Rick. Yeah, Earth Day is every day. And the designated "Earth Day" should also be every day, instead of only once a year. But then again, if this was the case, 'progress' just wouldn't be the same in all of its raping glory. The hippy in me was very disappointed that there wasn't a single Earth Day heads-up blog this year. I suppose PS poets these days, have more important and urgent matters to discuss.
