Early Birthday Thoughts of You and Me Sixty Years Young

Early Birthday thoughts of you and me ! Sixty years young ? November 9th / November 12th / 42 The Bear’s growl !, has he lost his voice ? The Bear’s fangs !, gone, has he lost his bite ? The Bear’s claws !, blunt, more like puppy paws The Bear – like old Kaw Liga – has he given up the fight ? The Bear of my words, is he really what I saw ? In the passing of time, have we no choice ? The dawning of our youthful, crazy, wild day has long left us in limbo, it just slipped away. The noon hour of our blazing, blinding light, once burned with such passion, hard and bright. Now it flickers and fades, it is so far from our sight. Lost, our ability to see through the mystery of night, even to know what is right, what is wrong, might not know in any case, not even in the twilight hour of our years, as we strive ?, to bloom I wonder ?, just how empty is our room ! I do not see us, dear old friend, reaching for the moon. Not in this life time – left to us – nor any time soon. Will our experiences ?, our memories ?, carry us through . Is this Bear ?, all that is left for me and left for you. Sixty years seems so long, now they have all gone and for the past ten, there seemed nothing to do that I haven’t already, I guess nothing lives on. Wishing you, my dear friend, so long ago and far away, the brightest of and happiest Birthday. There is nothing, what more might I say ? Love Bill, and the Girls !!! Wm. J.
