Drought

Into the distance travels the sound of the weeping willows, It is a problem whose solution no one knows. The helpless man implores for relief, On the branches of trees remains not a single leaf. Drained of water are the reaches of the earth, Drought is a situation where human life is of no worth. Upon the whole of mankind suffering is inflicted, Through a number of demises their fate is depicted. Turning barren are the large masses of fertile land, For help of people in distraught appears not a single hand. In man and animals prevalent is the thirst for relief, People are not able to appreciate life even for a minute brief. Drenching the land are the mortal’s tears, This dearth has extended throughout the years. Drained of water the saplings turn dry, Each failed crop is accompanied by a farmer’s cry. Sporting a grey coat the sky brings hope, Hanging on are the countrymen to the end of a rope. Everlasting is their aspiration for a better tomorrow, It will be the rains that will wash away all their sorrows.
