Doctor Said

An apple every day, he said to me. Berries too, for your recovery. Can I have just one small slice of pie? Doctor nearly glared into my eye! Even nuts and cheese you must not eat. For Heaven's Sake, Doctor,  I need a treat! Good food should not be processed, white or fried. How about some egg whites on the side? (I was being snide because it's no Joke that yolk is always good to go!) Knowing I should lay off yummy things Like burgers, chocolate, and pizza brings Me such great angst! Everybody knows No vegetables compare to fried potatoes! On Thanksgiving, I will do some cheating. Popcorn (hot-air popped)  I will be eating! Very cute vent here, Andrea! Well done, as we say 'round here. It blows my mind how quickly and thoroughly you grasped all the nutrition dialogue from all the different sources and, in clarity, formed a strict, and, apparently successful, plan. I'm sure I would have been food-lost. I enjoyed this. Let's now enjoy chocolate - sometimes? never? oh ... CayCay (why not nuts and cheese? nuts aren't processed? and nuts go so well with chocolate)

If anyone knew just how much you love your foods. How you love to create and experiment with them. Hard times for my beautiful sis.

Beautifully done Andrea. You've created a smooth flow which is always difficult in this type of write.

You made the form look easy with this witty write, Andrea. When doctors tell me what to eat, I feel like interrogating them on their own diet habits. Sometimes the benefits these "yummy things" bring to our souls outweigh the impact on our diets. As I write this, I'm having chocolate milk and a cookie. Wish I could have your success with dieting. Always difficult! Much enjoyed!

It is so difficult giving up things you love. I can't eat potatoes and tomatoes because they are a night shade which is bad for arthritis. No rice either, too high on the glycemic index. I am left with some fruit, foul and fish and most veggies. I forget to eat and you can imagine why! I enjoyed your poem Andrea. I feel for you. I hope you are doing better and better. Love, Connie : ) 7

Of course the yolk is the best part! ;-) A healthy treat? How about frozen bananas with organic honey and/or chocolate (diet?) syrup?

See? Had I read yours first i wouldn't have bothered writing one. It's not fun writing for second place. This is great - you maneuvered very smoothly through the flow issues I kept bumping against. Very well done.

I am also supposed to be eating to a strict regime no full fat milk nor even clotted cream. But give up butter? Shoot me in the head, with that food gone I might as well be dead.

Keith here is the accepted "butter" you can have: EARTH BALANCE. it's sold at Walmart. A secondary one you can have is Smart Balance. Get the kind made with olive oil. Olive oil is the BEST oil to be putting in your body. As a woman with estrogen problems, i am not allowed soy. i bet you can have soy.

Yes, doctors are very strict. Very very nicely composed as it holds the both content, ABC and also the rhyming. Great work.

I cheated last night at a dinner party. But today I will put myself back on track. I am being extra careful while i go through radiation but also for the rest of my life, i will eat as close to this diet as possible. But i am adding in popcorn, hot air popped only and brown rice in another month. i think those things are ok. Right now i am just being extra strict. i will add in red meat but in small amounts in the future. i love my fish fillets but am not into chicken!

My eldest daughter is a vagen Andrea, and lectured me on her last visit. In one ear, out the next. Apparently, it becomes second nature. Keep up the good fight and good luck.

Vegan is not necessarily the best thing, jean. Some vegans do not even eat eggs. And that is ridiculous. Chicken and beef are very needful, but not in large quantity. i plan to add beef back into my diet after radiation treatments. i can eat a little more normal once my body is back on track.

It's hard to follow rules but you must fight the good fight now. As long as we are still here our work isn't down.Who knows what we can teach by the way we live.Playing love forward is a big responsibility. But I know you are good in that department, by the way you've helped me.love;Thalia

It is so hard to eat correctly - there are so many temptations! I hope you and yours have good health. Thanksgiving is not the time to diet. It marks the beginning of the holiday season where many of us get carried away. Good luck in the contest! Peace & Love Matthew Anish

Great rhyme Andrea - I can only sympathise with your dilemma I've never been on a diet of any sort ever so it must be very tough to stop eating foods you love:-( good luck in the contest:-) hugs Jan xx

Well written as usual, Andrea. I'm not supposed to eat that stuff either. I guess we're all in the same boat. Hey pass the turkey burgers! Good luck in contest!
