Do You Know How Proud I Am?

A struggling teen Attitude was displayed A broken up family Bitter emotions portrayed Fighting her feelings Constant incidents of pain Adjusting to a new life Nothing left for her to gain Rude and obnoxious Traits never taught to you I know how you’re feeling And what you want me to do I can’t go back daughter To the life that we led Empty souls in waiting An escape route instead You’ve adjusted so well An upbeat attitude replaced Negative remarks of hatred Your life you’ve now faced I’m so happy to hear your laughter A beautiful young woman in the crowd Your true identity finally emerging A mother who couldn’t be more proud © Stacy Lynn Stiles
