Destiny
Don’t envy the arrogant
Or the prosperity of the wicked;
Without struggles, healthy and strong,
But their lives are not sacred.
For pride is their necklace;
Their hearts are callous;
They scoff and speak in arrogance
With strains of uncalled for malice.
Their mouths lay claim to heaven—
They are carefree,
But when I entered the sanctuary,
I understood their destiny.
Destroyed, swept away in terror,
Their end will not be sweet.
Stay close instead to your Lord
Where you’ll find sin’s sweet defeat.
The Sovereign Lord’s my refuge;
His commands I adore;
I’ll stay by His side
And keep my heart pure!
For the end of the arrogant
Is not a pleasant sight.
I’d rather see the glory
Of our dear Lord so radiantly bright.
Who have I in heaven
But my Creator.
Earth has nothing to desire
Greater than my Mediator.
Those far from Him will perish
Be completely swept away;
Suddenly destroyed;
Failed to seek God’s saving way.
