Dear Dainty Butterfly

Dear dainty little butterfly flitting about in erratic flight. I get but a fleeting glimpse of thee, tho' 'tis such a delight, To see thee wafted by the winds as you flit about my lawn! (Since you never settle down I wonder what you feed upon!) How I look forward to thy daily visit with great anticipation. Thou art one of the most exquisite creatures in God's Creation! I marvel at thy aerobatic skill and I think it is my learned hunch, That you are so adept at this so as not to become a falcon's brunch! Don't get snatched by a mean old bird when darting to and fro! Please watch thy six, little buddy, for I would miss thee so! Robert L. Hinshaw, CMSgt, USAF, Retired Entry for Skat A's "Write About Butterflies" Contest

You show such love and compassion for the delicate things of nature. This particular poem had a very 'musical' flow. Sad to say I don't see much butterflies anymore... I wonder what happened to them?

Cute one..It is interesting to watch them dart about and then settle for a few seconds and drink nectar..They are lovely creatures but the caterpillar can wreck havoc on a plant..Thanks for the visit to my page.I appreciate the time spent there..Sara
