Days of Autumn
The soft brown days of falling leaves are here
Moving quietly toward the last sunrise
To find some peace as I contain death's fear
And know I am closer to my demise
To travel time, remembering yesterdays
And search the still calm hours of tomorrows
I'll glean richness of life from longest days
And silently dispense all my sorrows
Measure problems until they are contained
From my failures in life and all between
I'll raise a glass to those who have remained
And cheer the times' love came to intervene
I've come to face the time of growing old
And found the taste bitter as it grows cold
